A few hours ago Mozilla celebrated the 1 billionth download of Firefox. The browser which has roughly one third of the browser market share was first released in 2004 has gained significant popularity over the last few years. Part of this was due to the fact that the developers and users behind the Netscape web browser went on to create and use this new open source alternative.
Globally Firefox commands 31% of the browser space and 28% in Great Britain. Although Firefox 3.5.1 was only released on 16th of July 2009 leaks of Firefox 4.0 have already started to emerge. The new generation Firefox browser is likely to have an interface similar to that of Google’s Chrome browser and will apparently have translucent effects.
To celebrate the 1billionth download Mozilla Corporation has already created a website to mark this landmark occasion >> www.onebillionplusyou.com . It has been estimated that Firefox is downloaded every 2 seconds and that the Firefox market share could increase now that it is going to be bundled with Windows in Europe. If you would like to try out Firefox 3.5 go to www.firefox.com or www.mozilla.com/firefox.

I can guarantee that you have used Internet Explorer at some point in your life and you either like it, hate it or can’t be bothered to switch to an alternative. Internet Explorer 8 the latest edition of IE has reached RC1 which will means that the current version has so few bugs that Microsoft believe that it’s fine for the average Joe to download. I would reccomend downloading it and playing about with it, particularly as there are some good new features. Once you have tried it out I am quite sure that you will agree, it’s a major improvement but will it make people rush to download it and then more importantly, switch from Firefox, Opera, Chrome and Safari.
